A woman from Evanston, Illinois, fell victim to a scam where an individual impersonating actor Kevin Costner convinced her to send approximately $62,000 via gift cards. The scammer communicated with her through Telegram, claiming to be Costner and promising to convert the gift cards into cryptocurrency investments. The victim, believing she was helping the actor, sent the funds over a six-month period.
