EastEnders Star Balvinder Sopal Confirms Suki & Eve’s Long-Term Future

EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal has revealed that Suki Panesar-Unwin and her wife Eve Panesar-Unwin are set for a significant long-term storyline as they pursue adopting a child — and fans can expect deep, emotional developments to unfold over many weeks on Albert Square.

Sopal, who has played Suki since 2020, told RadioTimes that the couple’s adoption journey will form “a nice long arc” in the soap. She explained that the show will delve into both women’s pasts and lives, exploring the challenges, emotional hurdles, and real-world implications of adoption — particularly for two characters whose histories are complex and rich.

Despite Suki’s reputation as a difficult personality — often seen as a “bad mum” due to past behaviour — Sopal argued that the story gives writers and viewers a chance to understand why she is the way she is. The show has undertaken extensive research to portray their adoption journey authentically, and the storyline is expected to explore what sort of parents the couple could make if they succeed.

Sopal confirmed that this adoption plotline will be a major focus for the characters moving forward, with plenty of scope for emotional depth, personal setbacks, and discoveries about who Suki and Eve really are beneath the surface.

While Suki and Eve will be working toward growing their family, there are other dramatic storylines brewing too — including new tension around how Suki interacts with other residents like Honey Mitchell, and how newcomers such as Bea Pollard stir things up on the Square.

This confirms fans can expect Suki and Eve not just to remain central characters, but to experience a significant, multi-episode arc that will be deeply emotional and touching on real-life issues like parenthood, identity, and family legacy.EastEnders' Balvinder Sopal teases "long" Suki and Eve adoption story as couple's pasts explored | Radio Times
